| The Gallery of National Art, the museum of the Venezuelan art, has a permanent collection with more than six thousand art works, which includes more than four centuries of history of the national plastic expression. The art of the pre-Hispanic period, anonymous painters of the colonial period, the teachers of the academic painting of century XIX, the evolutionist of the Venezuelan painting in the beginnings of century XX, specially dedicated to our landscape and known as el Círculo de Bellas Artes, the initiators of the abstract art, the most significant creators of the new figuration, as well as a great number of contemporary artists is represented in their collection. |

| Located in the entrance of the Parque Los Caobos, next to the Gallery of National Art and in front of the Museum of Sciences, the Bellas Artes Museum is part of the nucleus of the artistic center of Caracas. El Ávila |
| The Mountain of forests and crystalline waterfalls located to the north of Caracas, was known at first like the hill Guaraira Repano: Sierra Grande, thus was called by the natives. The Ávila Mountain separates Caracas from the beaches of the Central Coast and in his valley was where Diego de Lozada in 1567 founded Caracas. Years later, in 1575, the Greater Lieutenant of Field, Gabriel de Ávila, locates his lands in this hill and inspires the name with which we know it today. |

| In 1971, inspired by the Project of the Battery Park of Manhattan, the first stage of Parque Central was opened in Caracas, a enormous structure that was commercialized with the slogan of "a new way to live" . The big complex imagined to lodge houses, offices, commerce and public services, also reserves a 1,127 area of m² for an exhibition hall, that soon was devised like a new museum for Caracas that would be conceived under "a contemporary" direction that prevailed on the future collection and the name of the organization. |

| With its slogan: "please touch" this museum invites to the direct contact of the children with the world. It was founded by the initiative of Mrs. Alicia Pietri de Caldera and a group of professionals in 1974. It was a private institution without profit aims that give origin to the museum in 1982. It constitutes an educative-recreational center where young and adolescent have the opportunity to investigate phenomena of physical sciences and life, to experiment and try with the technology of the communication and mainly to learn in an amused atmosphere. Since 1982 it has become a support for the education programs for the country schools, because the experiences that the Museum presents to the Children are related to the objectives of the programs of Basic Education, from first to ninth degree. |

| During the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez, a group of intellectuals, artists and students worried about the new artistic and democratic movements, they met to discuss its political, ideological and artistic ideas and opinions.
